MyDSL woesForum: Apps Topic: MyDSL woes started by: betchern0t Posted by betchern0t on July 02 2006,02:20
Hi,I am configuring a DSL 3.01 hdd install (the dsl-hdinstall script version). The desktop sits behind squid doing basic authentication. I have set up the http_proxy and ftp_proxy env vars and can see MyDSL accessing ibiblio.org. MyDSL correctly downloads and shows the .info file but when I hit download, accept the /tmp location it throws an error message: Non DSL user error What is wrong? Any help gratefully accepted Cheers Paul Posted by mikshaw on July 02 2006,03:08
You must be logged in as user 'dsl' in order to properly install mydsl extensions. This is because any menu item or icon provided with the package is installed in the user's personal directory, and as the mydsl system is currently written those files need to be owned by dsl or the mydsl system in general will break due to messed up file permissions. You can still use the programs as other users after the install has completed.
