I've tried almost everything to get java to work on firefox 0.8, which was included with dsl. In the tools section firefox even says 'Javascript Console', but when I try to vist one of my favorite sites that use Java it says I need to get the Java plugin. I know that there is a tar.gz version in the repository, and I triedto gunzip it, but that led me no where! Do I need a newer firefox version or am i missing something incredibly simple like a '-k' or something after gunzip.
Thank you in advance,
mike

Please use the tool for loading extensions, mydsl-load.

Open MyDSL panel, then click system and choose jre*. I think It's also located under UCI... :)

ok thathatrulse the java file in the repository is a tar.gz and the mydsl load does not work with that

zucca I think you may be talking about a version of  dsl-n , becuase I dont see  jre option on my version (50mb)

Clearly you haven't read about myDSL extensions properly

All mydsl extensions can be loaded with mydsl-load

And, yes. It's in both categories: System and UCI.
jre1_5_0.tar.gz and jre1_5_0.uci.

Posted by xmikeox on July 13 2006,01:11
okay Im starting to think that the jre.uci isnt working because I dont have the updated DSL 3.0.1 because I read post about how u cant use emelf and what not, so now im dowloading 3.0.1 maybe ill finally get java up
Posted by Zucca on July 13 2006,02:20
If UCI doesn't work then try *.tar.gz from System category.

ZUCCA thanks for everything I figured out that my dsl version was way to old, so I got 3.0.1 and I used a version of java from the repostitory, and now I can use java in firefox! The first time I ran runescape it crashed but, the second time it went pretty smooth ill have to get used to when and what will make it crash I I can be careful, Wouldnt want it to close out while im p'kin other players. Oh yeah is your icon your actuall picture

Hmmm. I remember playing runescape too.
It was years ago...

Is it still free?

Posted by xmikeox on July 13 2006,06:38
Yes, it's still free and the only way that the game doenst look stupid is if you play it, if I stop playing for a few weeks then I look back on it and it looks gay, I wish I could find a way arond it crashing on me. Do you know anything that I could to maybe free up CPU or something? Maybe its just firefox I dont know, i might not even look into fixing runescape for my computer.
