I put 3.1 on this laptop of mine and it seems my MyDSL Extension Tools isn't working correctly, or maybe it is and I have to edit a file or something.

The problem is:  When I press any of the button my the MyDSL Extension Tool (IE Apps, themes etc..)  it will open the selection, let me select, but when I go to download it, it opesn a small window asking for a path to download it to.  It defaults to /tmp.   When I try to download, the window leave and nothing happens.  That is it.

Is there some files I can check or something can check.   I have version 2.2b and 2.3 running on several of my other computers and this MyDSL Extensions Tool works fine but it isn't working on this 3.1 machine.

If it's a traditional debian-style hd-install, and a 3.1 RC version, then there was a problem with some permissions i think...
If it isn't, then how are you using your setup?

If you search for mydsl_dir you will see this issue resolved.
It only affects v3.1 and only traditional debain style hard drive installs.

Simple fix:

sudo chgrp staff /opt/.mydsl_dir

Yes, it is a traditional hd install...

I applied Roberts fix and it works now.  Thanks Robert for the quick fix.
