I am using DSL 3.01installed on my hard drive.

I've downloaded and installed gtk2-0705.dsl and upgraded to GNU utilities.

The problem I am having is that no matter which web browser I use (Firefox or Opera) when I visit certain sites with flash the browser will crash and close. As an example nascar.com and nfl.com are two sites that this happens with.

I can go to my banks web site which is < http://midflorida.com > (it has flash) and both web browsers work fine.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so have you found a fix?

I can think of a couple of reasons this might happen....

If you're using Flash version 9, you must use a Gtk2 version of Firefox.  The Gtk1.2 versions will not run the plugin, and it will crash in Opera.

If you're using a browser that is otherwise compatable with your installed version of Flash, take note that there are MANY web developers out there who really don't know what they're doing.  As long as their site works in their office and the office/home of their client, they consider it useable.

Adobe, and Macromedia before them, have little knowledge or concern about the Linux community, and their Flash software for Linux suffers as a result.  There has always been a huge gap between the performance of the Windows and Linux Flash Players, with the Mac version somewhere over there near the Windows version.
