Ok, I am new to DSL and I am trying to play mp3s and when I play them it says something about a sound card because it is not configured  and when I try to configure it I dont know where my soundcard is(/dev/*something) or something like that, can somebody help me. i am using a Conexant Riptide and DSL sees it on startup to. I am a smart at windows not at Linux, so somebody help.

I don't know if this applies to you, but on my old portable I have to load the soundblaster module to get it to work. In a Xterm window type the following:
sudo su
modprobe sb
The first line logs you in as root and the second loads the module.

Current XMMS doesnt support mp3 playback...you need to get the mp3 XMMS plugin (3rd party)
