I just wanted to let you all know that it is possible to download Realplayer 8 and run it locally as user damnsmall.

I'm using DSL all this weekend to get my work done sort of as a usability test.  One thing I was wanting was to be able to listen to my local NPR stream.

John,

A few weeks ago, I was able to get Realplayer and also Java runtime engine working with Opera 6.12 in DSL.

After installing Realplayer, I needed to download the RealVideo 9 codec upgrade package in order to view the latest web sites.

One of these days (after the busy holidays) I am going to try and include additional download scripts for Opera with RealPlayer and Java RTE.

With (Firebird or Opera) + Flash + Java + Realplayer, the DSL user has a web browser that performs well when visiting most web sites.

I've had DSL with Realplayer working for a few months now on an old laptop with 48M and 266Mhz.
Beats the hell out of shortwave!

DSL saved the machine from the junkyard.  Great job John.

DSL makes a great and dirt cheap internet radio system.  Only had to buy a pair of speakers to get good sound.

It's almost 100% silent (disk spins down after 1 min) screen blanks after 1 min and with keylaunch I can drop a template over the kbd and control everything just with the function keys.

Just need to get a driver for an old nokia c020 2M wlan card to make it a wireless internet radio.

Anybody got any am930_cs binary for kernel 2.4.20

:D
