DSL allocating too much for ramdiskForum: Apps Topic: DSL allocating too much for ramdisk started by: huyvo Posted by huyvo on Sep. 05 2004,02:50
DLS comes up and allocates 160 MB for /ramdisk, only 16% of whichis used. Is there anyway to tell DSL to ask for less room for /ramdisk. Thank you Huy Posted by cbagger01 on Sep. 05 2004,04:11
As far as I know, the linux kernel in DSL will dynamically swap out ramdisk for free ram. So as long as you don't fill up your ramdisk with a bunch of large files, you should still have the ram available for program and OS use.Of course I don't know alot about this subject so this is my best guess as to how things work. I could be totally talking out of my rear end on this one. |
