firefox customized downloadsForum: Apps Topic: firefox customized downloads started by: gurru Posted by gurru on Dec. 20 2004,00:29
I have been able to create a folder on my hdd to store firefox bookmarks, cache, etc. Works great except the download folder is automaticly set at /home/dsland I want it to be /mnt/hda1/files. I should add that I run this totally from RAM. The toram option is amazingly fast. I also boot a USB drive when I am at work. But that is a another story. If I can figure this one out, then customizing my USB drive should be no problem. Thanks to anyone who is willing to help! I have been using DSL for about a year now, and always have found solutions by searching forums. This one just has me stumped. Posted by gurru on Dec. 20 2004,01:50
Let me refocus my question...I need to change the default downloads path in firefox. While this is supposedly a simple task, clicking "Ask me where to save every file" option does not work. Why? How do I change it? I can not find the config file that contains this path. Posted by DonttPanic on Dec. 20 2004,04:24
You should be able to change the path of where it saves files by going into Edit>Preferences>Downloads (or Tools>Options>Downloads if you have a newer version of firefox... i think). If you are running from a liveCD or USB, you may have to edit the filetool.lst to save your configuration. I'm not sure. I run from an HD install

Thanks to ke4nt1 for this nfo>There were some issues regarding the "downloads" section of firefox not >keeping >it's settings, >or allowing one to preset actions for filetypes (m3u, pdf, etc... ) and make >them stick. >This has been addressed in the 0.9.1 version , and works for me in pre-release >testing. >Grab the new 0.9.1 , at one of the mirrors, like alien , and test this for >yourself. >The official release for 0.9.1 will be early this week.. |
