Oh great and Powerful DSL Gurus,

If there are any musicians out there, this may be of interest.  I have had issues attempting to find a music notation software that is able to handle scores ( read that orchestra-sized multi-stave type stuff ).

I have something called DENEMO which works for DSL but I would like to use GScore.  the issue is that it gives file location errors when attempting to install the silly thing.

IF there is someone who wouldnt mind taking this on, this is  one arranger/composer who would be eternally greatful !

THanks !

MrBear37,  I made a dsl file for < GScore > and submitted it.  I didn't think it did that great of a job, it was missing a lot of features, and I thought it was buggy.  I thought perhaps you might get something out of it, though.  It has potential, but I'll never be the next Charlie Parker of the flute if I use this software transcribe what I'm doing.

< lilypond > is a nice music notation program as well.  It creates PDF scores as well as tex and ps.  It takes text files as input, and it looks like it can do just about anything you could possibly want.  I tried to make a dsl of it, but my first cut was an 81.5 Meg monster that didn't work.  It requires python, perl, gtk, and a bunch of oher things.  I'll keep trying.  Someday when gscore is further along, the combination of the two programs would be very powerful.

Now that I've been looking around, I also saw abcm2pdf and abc2pdf, both which compile easily from their sources with gcc (without any additional libraries).  They take an abc file and convert it to postscript.  Then I used the ps2pdf command to convert them to pdf files for printing.  I believe denemo can output as an abc file, so would abc2ps be of any use?

Greetings,

Yes Lillypond seems very nice.  the abc2pdf combination might be very helpful.  Denemo works.. It took me a couple of evenings to figure out how the keyboard worked for input.

I must admit a certain amount of laziness if you will.  I want a GUI, and pretty much Drag and Drop or at least point and click insertion on a visible stave.

I also need something that will handle printing out score (orchestral style) sized spacing if that makes sense.

I know.... I ask alot.. maybe wishful thinking..
Peace !
