DSL 091 running from Live CD. How do I install ChatZilla in Firefox ? I click the install link for an extension or theme, and I get the "What do you want to do with it" dialog. Firefox does not seem to know what .xpi or .js files are. I can DL them, but can't get them installed. Posted by BlowMe on Feb. 17 2005,14:26

Are you using 0.9.3? I believe there was an extension bug that was fixed. Chris Posted by roberts on Feb. 17 2005,17:00
Confirmed. You must have v0.9.3 or higher in order to load Firefox extensions. Thanks to Ke4nt1 for pointing out the needed missing library. And thanks to John for repackaging Firefox for 0.9.3. Firefox now loads up faster. Best to grab DSL v0.9.3. Posted by tyler on Feb. 17 2005,22:47
excuse me for asking here... but does Firefox install as part of the default package, or do i need to download somewhere else? I have used an older version of DSL and am just about to try .9.3

FUFUFUFU!DSL has had firefox since 0.9.0 in the base iso!! KEKEKEKEKE!!! Have you not updated?! Posted by Thomsen on Feb. 18 2005,22:37
I have the same Problem as the guys posted first. The Problem is NOT to get the dsl-extension containing the firefox running but to get extensions of the firefox (e.g. chat, autohide) running. If you have an installation without booting toram, the extension manager of firefox has not proper rights and does not parse the xpi extension files. So if you're running toram, it works also with the built-in version of firefox. The .dsl extension works with xpi's as well (e.g. firefox1.0PR.dsl). What I didn't figure out yet, is, how I can do a remaster (or backup) that contains the necessary files for the firefox extensions (autohide). My question is basicly, what files firefox creates for these extensions and how I can recreate them in the directories dsl overwrites at bootup.Thx for any hint. |
