Can anyone please help?  I regularly need to send work MS.doc files home by e-mail as attachments.  For over a year, I had no problems at all receiving mails with .doc files with Sylpheed and then saving them to home/dsl/.  They would all open up ok. with Abiword.  This also worked well with XFmail client I used for a while.  When using DSL V0.92 a few weeks ago, with the Opera extension mail client, I noticed that the attachment 'save' function didn't work.  .Doc files would open with Abiword as a series of question marks - nothing more.  Assuming this was an Opera problem, I went back to Sylpheed (under DSL V0.93).  Sending and receiving is fine but, again, the .DOC files are corrupted.  This never happened with Sylpheed in the Past.  It seems like a system error.  .RTF files have also been affected like this.  .Pdf files on the other hand are not affected at all. Any thoughts?

Are you using DSL embedded or are you booting DSL natively and not running it inside of a MS Windows qemu window?

Sorry - don't really know what Qemu is. I am running HD installed DSL on a separate Hda2 partition with Lilo, my dial-up is ok., internet works fine, mails themselves are no problem, installed Abiword .DSL is the latest.  I might just clear it all and reload again from scratch.

well it was obvious really.  Somehow, Abiword got broken in both previous DSL installs, how I don't know. Reloading the Abiword extension again did not help.  Anyway I reloaded V0.93 again from scratch and the usual extensions - Abiword one of the first and Opera again.  It all works fine now - all MS.Doc files open up without any problems in Abiword, having been saved as an attachment in Opera e-mail.  Sylpheed of course must be OK too.
