hi.i wanted to modify a .dsl-file. when i typed
Busybox 1.0 said, that there is no "--no-recursion" option. so where is the difference to the last version? how can i build the .dsl-file with DSL 1.2? thanks in advance. Posted by Guest on June 09 2005,18:35
The real "tar" binary is in gnu-utils.dsl extension.

i don't want the real tar binary. i worked with older busybox-versions, so what has changed?

DSL 1.1 and earlier has the real tar binary, and not a symlink to busybox. This new DSL 1.2 does not have the real tar binary.

If you're creating an archive from a file list i don't think the no-recursion option is necessary.

Actually, it is necessary if your list contains something like:/ or /usr Seriously, DSL should continue to use the "real" GNU tar. I like Busybox as much as the next guy, but the Busybox tar is worthless and weak (I wanna ROCK!) and is more trouble than it is worth. GNU tar is also needed for many Debian packages. GNU tar isn't very big and it is worth every penny of disk space. Posted by RoGuE_StreaK on June 10 2005,23:48
erm... was that a Twisted Sister reference?! Posted by mikshaw on June 11 2005,02:44
Your list shouldn't contain / or /usr if you're building or repacking a myDSL extension, but i agree with you....honestly i don't like Busybox much at all. Personally i'd rather have gnu utils and dump some of the extra bulk like firefox and emelfm =o)
