when i try to execute the firefox bin file i get this error:

error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory

any ideas as to what this means or what i can do to fix this?

Did you first install and execute gtk2.dsl ?

Read the firefox-gtk2-1.0.4.uci.info file for more details.
