Is there any webinterface that can be run on DSL to control Xmmp ??i need a dead simple way to play music on a diskless DSL-computer with no keyboard/mouse installed (remote management from workstation) a nice WebGUI would be the best... all mp3's are stored on a server on local network ... HiI don't know your set-up or xmmp but I have played music on a headless thin client. In my case the mp3 files are store locally on the thin client. On the thin client I add a user and password for the musicman. I then start the ssh server at boot. From the workstation I ssh into the thin client using the user musicman and password. At the terminal prompt I just type xmms. The xmms gui appears on the workstation but the audio stays assigned to the thin client. That is absolutely the simplest way I know. good luck Posted by newOldUser on Aug. 30 2005,01:26
I'm not sure if this is what you want but there's a .dsl in the repository called EDNA (I think it's in the NET section). You'll also need Python.uci. You run Edna and python on the server. Point it to your mp3 collection and Edna presents a web page to any client coming in at port 8080 (http://edna_server_ipaddr:8080). Select your songs and Edna will stream them to your client. Search the forum for more information on Edna or take a look at this blog write up: < What to do after the install part 4 > Posted by UndCon on Aug. 30 2005,11:57
thx both of you...i also found a php-page for remotecontrolling of Xmms (seems quite easy to use) but requires webserver with php... i think the SSH-solution is easiest so far... |
