Anyone have any further info on this, or any opinions?

I'm thinking this thing would rock with DSL.

< Walmart >

Gotta hand it to WalMart. They are tapping into Linux and touting the "no M$ viruses" blah blah. Say what you want but they have a very large audience and a desktop PC for under $200 will be very tempting to alot of people.

Not sure if the video is nvidia or not. The processor appears to be decent but the RAM could be a little better. $200 + a few bucks for additional ram would create a smoking DSL system.

That is hilarious. I was on newegg doing the exact same thing!  :D

I was curious on how good a deal this was. For about $50 more you can get an Abit nforce board (wihout video) and an nvidia mx4000 64mb card. If you had a resellers license this would probably be cheaper yet.

If all you are going to do is internet and email then I spose this would be an OK computer.  Heck, a setup like that would run DSL very well.  If DSL runs great on a 200Mhz that I have, I'm sure it would run well on a 1.5Ghz :)

I think it would be more fun to put it together yourself, via Newegg though.  :D

Um...not that it's any of my business or anything and I am aware of the fact that this is a tech support forum and not a political discussion group, but personally I would not buy a roll of toilet paper from WalMarts for moral reasons:

< Down and Out in Discount America >

You're your own person and you're going to do what you're going to do, but DSL and Slax BOTH run like a dream on my Compaq Presario S5000NX which was not that much more expensive than a Walmart's special, and DSL also runs beautifully, if a bit slowly, on my 166 Mhz PII, circa 1996. I haven't tried it yet on my 400 Mhz PII which I got for $30 on eBay.

If you have the know-how to build something from scratch (which I don't) you might be surprised at what parts you can find people giving away on freecycle.

Okay.

I'm done.

I'll shut up now.

Computers are kinda like legos.

Except computers can only go together one way. :D
