On this past Friday I unexpectedly received a new very powerful computer and an amazing sound system for it. Inside was a note from Kent explaining that many many users contributed to this effort.  To all thank you.

Many of you may be wondering why I would be in such a situation of need. I am not one who easily wishes to express my life situation. But in this case, I feel the need to do just that.

I am disabled. I have an incurable form of muscular dystrophy called Myasthenia Gravis. Which is greek and latin for severely weaken muscles. At least that is my current diagnosis. You see I do not test positive for either of the two antibodies normally associated with MG. Yet I have all the classic symptoms. Over the past three years, I have undergone all known treaments and all have failed. I am currently trying an experimental treament. I have chemotherapy once a month. My mother passed from this disease. I know and have seen first hand the progression of this disease. All of this has been a drain on me emotionally, physically, and financially. I do not receive money from working on DSL, nor do I get reimbursed for expenses that I incurr. I work on DSL to help me cope, to pass the time, keep me occupied. When I can that is. Why I am not too sick, or my double vision prevents it. The avatar that I have choosen is Sleepy. Walt Disney made this character after personally knowning a friend that suffered from MG. One of the first signs of MG is losing control of your eyelids. You always look sleepy. You also tire very easily because of the weaken muscles. Anyway, I thought you should know.

Your outpouring of kindness is so very sincerely appreciated. Thank You.

Robert

Hey, it wasn't a gift, it was a necessity.

I wish I'd been around to chip in a few $$$. Thank YOU for making this distro possible, which is about the only possible way many of the financially disadvantaged members of my hometown are going to be able to access the internet and reach their own potential to help others.

Hang in there, man; I can't understand what you're going through, but that doesn't mean I can't care.

I am thrilled that you have this PC! You have added so much to DSL and have helped me personally on many occasions.

Thank you, Robert.

RobertS,

DSL has truely helped others cope, pass the time, and stay occupied as well. DSL has also provided so many with the opportunity to have working computers and experience things that they may not otherwise have had the opportunity to experience. I could go on and on about what DSL has done for me personally and what it has done for so many others, but I think you already know.

I hope you enjoy the new gear, and you certainly deserve it.
Thank you for your work on DSL.
