I just started seriously considering putting together a .dsl for the most recent development version of Fluxbox.  However, before I get started, I'm wondering about what potential users think.  If I just take the package, rip out the unnecessary stuff and pack it back up, it will mean that whoever installs it would lose their "stable" Fluxbox.  It wouldn't overwrite the $HOME/.fluxbox files, but may cause some troubles.  For example, many of the styles would be overwritten (development styles are slightly different than stable).
I'd most likely leave out bsetbg, since it's already part of DSL, but I'm not sure about fbrun.  I'm assuming that can be dumped as well, since grun seems to do fine.

An option might be to install 0.9.9 into a different location, such as /usr/local or /opt.  In this case, all files could be separate from the stable release in DSL (except for the $HOME/.fluxbox files), and I could rename the binaries to avoid conflicts.

Another question is whether to include fluxbox-generate_menu.  I think it's a very useful tool on my main workstation (I edit that rather than editing my menu), but don't know if it would be so useful in a damn small system, where most applications are already automatically added to the menu.  I'm speaking as a liveCD user here, who adds applications only via myDSL...don't know how apt-get users feel about it.

Most important, though, is that I haven't started on this yet....so far I've had about 50% success with creating dsl files, so I may just fail.

I'm just looking for any feedback about what the other users would like to see in a dev fluxbox.dsl before I get started.

Thanks for reading.
