How do I make an extension?
can i install regular linux .tar.gz file in DSL?

There is much information in the forums about making extensions.
It is not an easy process, but is not too difficult to master.

And if you are refering to downloading a .tar.gz
as a tarball from another site, then the answer is no..

They DO NOT install like DSL extensions..

Most of them that you find thruout the internet are sources,
and not installable files ..
Installable files are usually *.bin or *.sh files
