What I have:
Toshiba Satellite Pro 425CDS (circa 1996 or so =) )
24 mb RAM
Pentium 1
I believe the soundcard is an ESS688
Using DSL 0.7.1 i think (HD install)

I'm trying to get the lxDoom .dsl to play music.  I used apt-get to install lxmusserv because I didn't see a .dsl for it.  Now when I run doom it says that /dev/sequencer is busy.  I tried fuser -v /dev/sequencer, but that returned nothing.  The game still plays with sound, but no music.  Other programs using MIDI (I assume that's what doom is using) do not work either.  If it's any help, the way I'm getting any sound at all is I put "modprobe sb" into my /opt/bootlocal.sh.  Is there another module I can/should load?  Is there a solution?  Any help is appreciated, and thanks.

I get very poor sound on DOOM, just basic beeps when a sound should happen, its quite annoying. Especially so being a huge DOOM fan and havening to run windows to play it (if not dos). I find Jdoom (www.doomsdayhq.com), an open-gl doom port is the best engine if you have a compatible operating system (just incase anyone cares)
