in which DSL package can libxt.so be found?

im trying to use the mplayerplugin, but whenever i start firefox, messages appear telling me that i cannot use this plugin because i am missing libxt.so. I have found out that this is a part of the x11 package

thanks in advance,
ivanh

It's probably part of XFree86.dsl...just guessing.

EDIT: nope...not in xfree86.dsl.  You might need to go looking for it and add it to DSL yourself.

then why is it that nobody else is having this problem? im using a standard 1.0RC2 CD

Extensions are built so that you don't need anything else, unless specified in the info file.  I'd look for a problem elsewhere.

Are you using any software (especially mplayer/firefox) obtained from a source other than the mydsl repository?

Are you running DSL as a user other than "dsl"?

Are you running liveCD? Frugal? Hard drive install?

I saw your other post in the "request a dsl here" thread ..

The files you seek, libXt.so.6 , libXext.so.6, and libXft.so.1 are all already in
the DSL base iso.. ( look in /KNOPPIX/usr/X11R6/lib )
They symlink to..  (ramdisk)/usr/X11R6/lib

If you REALLY need files without the .# at the end of the filename,
you could make the symlinks yourself, but I haven't ever found it necessary.

Why your install can't find them, I don't know..
But for sure, you'll find them there,
if you haven't done any butchering of your filesystem..

Perhaps running an ldconfig as root would help your system
restore it's lib paths and/or links/symlinks..

ivanh,
I'm not sure in WHICH post you want this reply,
as you made so many about the same subject.

We all see every new post, regardless of area,
so no need to post the same question in multiple areas.

The mplayerplugin is built to run in a gtk2 version of firefox.
The firefox that is in the base iso of DSL is a gtk1.2 version.
They are not compatible.

If you wish to use the mplayerplugin, you'l need to download
and install the firefox-1.0 version from the repository.
It is a gtk2 version of firefox.  It is much fatter than the
gtk 1.2 version on the liveCD.

Read this thread to confirm..
I found this by searching the forums for "mplayer"
