ok. im bashing my head against a digital wall here. i cannot make Gaim or Amsn work in DSL. i have read countless forums ffrom people who have got these to work, and cant figure out why i am having such a hard time.  i was hoping that maybe the nice people at DSL forums could give me a hand :D

i know that to run Amsn i need to have tcl/tk, which i got, and i do believe that it is the newest version. it is a .tar.gz file which i placed in root.  i then loaded the amsn extention via the optional folder, and it simply becomes an icon that sits on my desktop and will not load.

what am i doing wrong? probaly dozens of things i reckon   :(

i know that the Amsn i have is the right one, because i loaded via the MYdsl pannel, so i am blaming this problem on the tcl/tk that i got. if someone can please place a link to a know working tcl/tk i would be greatly appreciative, also any other help would be greatly appreciated (as always_

Your version of tcl/tk may not have the proper symlinks in it..

Why not grab the tcktk8.3.dsl from the system section of the repository?
It's known to work with Amsn, and it as easily installed as the Amsn was..

It's the one suggested to be used with the amsn extension
according to it's companion .info file.

I don't know what kind of problems you've been having with GAIM, but I had some so I though I would share.

I had some problems with GAIM in the past.  I think I figured them out.  For MSN you will probably want to get the gaim listed under Net in the repository.  The one in the GTK menu doesn't look like it has the MSN plug in.  Also, make sure when you put your account info in, save it, and with GAIM still open, open your prefrences and make what changes you want and close it.  For some reason, when I don't open prefrences, it doesn't save any of my account info.
