I try to run a new version of skype but when I launch the binary file I get this error:
error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1

Sounds like your version requires at least XFree86,
and possibly some other driver, like nvidia, to run without error.

Is this a binary you found, or a version you compiled yourself?

If it is a very recent build, you may find it needs gtk+2.0 as well.

it's a .deb.
There is already an old skype.dsl that works without XFree86.

..correct, because that is the way it was compiled,
or what the programmer deemed necessary to support it's functions.

Newer apps get fat over time, by taking advantage of
all of the available libs that are already in most large distros..

That's why you'll see a version of an app in DSL that is
a few versions behind sometimes, because it IS a leaner
app, that requires less libs and other support files.

Look in this page near the bottom ( under 'problems' )
for a list of libs that a dynamically compiled version
of the latest skype wants to see in a freebsd system ..
(very similar to compiling the linux version, which I could not find any lists for )

..actually, it looks like this was patched from a RH8 version ..

Using the static binary version removes the need for QT 3.2,
but you'll still need to provide all the libs it wants to see..
( unless you compile it yourself, and exclude support for these libs )
