Hi all,
I know I could put DSL on a USB key and be done with it. But that's just not good enough:
I want to put DSL on my shiny new Sony w800i mobile phone.
Its got a 512MB memory stick, and it functions as a usb drive when plugged in, so why the hell not?
Basicly I want to be able to take my phone and plug it into any usb bootable PC  and boot that PC into DSL.
(I have my phone with me at all times, so why carry another usb stick?)

Does anyone know if i'll be demolishing my phone/stick by doing that? Has it been done before? Any pointers? Should i try to do it while the stick is IN the phone or use a card reader?
Any thoughts?

I've tried (not too hard i must admit)  but it didn't work as the phone won't 'boot'... i'll keep at it though and will keep you posted.

i've thought about this.  I think the sony ericsson phones boot off internal memory, the pro duo sticks act as external memory to store user's music/picture/etc.  i would use an external card reader just to be safe.  although, the phone may require a certain file order in order to read data off the card, much like a sony psp does.  theres a good chance you'll get a nasty error message if you use the stick in the phone.

while its a novel idea and would be interesting as a proof of concept.  how is carrying around a tiny usb flash drive harder then a length of cable for the phone.  plus when the phone is plugged into the computer it probably won't be able to take any calls, negating the point of the phone.

still, good luck and post results
