booting dsl from SDMX1 512m mp3Forum: USB booting Topic: booting dsl from SDMX1 512m mp3 started by: someuser77 Posted by someuser77 on April 05 2006,12:06
I have a SanDisk SDMX1 512MB Flash mp3 player i would like to use to boot DSL.I downloaded DSL 2.3 LiveCD and did a Pendrive install from the menu but after rebooting i wasnt able to boot from it on my GA-7VKMP motherboard. If i copy the cd content to the USB and use Syslinux i get a "Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs" error. My question is what is the RIGHT way to do it? The most important thing is that i will be able to remove DSL from my mp3 player and it will be back at his initial state. edit: where can i get the bootusb-x.x.x.img? You can get the usbboot image from < here. >You can find like everthing on it in < here. > The way I did it was I downloaded the usb boot image and used winimage to write the image to my usb flash stick. Then I copied the KNOPPIX, boot, and Lost+Found folders from the disc to the usb's root and it works prefect for me. Posted by someuser77 on April 10 2006,16:21
thank you for your reply kendall14.when i use winimage to write the bootfloppy-usb.img to the player i get a "SYSLINUX 2.04 (Debian 2003-06-06) Boot failed" message. btw, i have Windows 2000 and Fedora Core 4 on the computer, so i can try some other methods aswell. |
