Hi,I am having some problems getting DSL to work on my pendrive Thought that drive was messed up because on boot I get Grub Error 17 In Bios its set for USB-ZIP .... So I thought I would try a clean brand new pendrive & I get the same error
Now I am thinking I have a problem with my Hard Drives ... maybe an old Grub install on mbr Going to change Hard Drive/Remove to test .... Anyone else had this problem, or knows how to fix it? I can run DSL under qemu without any problems at all TIA MrGreen Posted by Shagbag on June 27 2006,10:29
You might find some help with this thread on the Gentoo forums:< http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=122656 > There's also a Gentoo HOWTO on running a 'LiveCD' version of a distro on a USB pendrive. Although not specifically on point, it might give you some ideas: < http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/liveusb.xml > Posted by Mr Green on June 27 2006,10:39
Hi,Thanks for your reply .... I am confused as to why system does not boot ... even with a blank usb device I stil get error wondering if one of my drives has an old grub install on it... why that should affect it I do not know .... I am hoping that a new hard drive will solve the problem Love booting from USB its soo cool lol Would using USB-HDD make any diference? TIA Posted by humpty on June 27 2006,10:44
no harm in trying it.back to the first question, do you still get the error if the usb pen is not plugged in? Posted by Mr Green on June 27 2006,11:22
