does anyone know why i cant write to lib folders?
Im using DSL on HD Pen Drive.

it seems like lib folder is write protected? can i change this?
why is it protected?

ok, i think the answer to this is the fact i did a ZIP install on my usb pen, so i cant write/save.

Ive tried to do a HDD on the same pen by removing all files then doing a live install. but my thin client wont load up from the usb hdd. when i force a load up, the thin client tells me the disk is not known.

how do i do a HDD install that works?

HDD install does not make any difference to the fact i cant save usb pen drive.

im sure there is no real reason i cant write to files etc etc, am i over looking something? am i talking to myself?

every where i look, im being told to mount key (usb hdd) and its ready to read/write.

My key is mounted, green light on. but doesnt write.

should i be writing in another place? are some areas write protected?

Both USB pen installs are like running from a cdrom boot, except they boot from usb. This means most system files and directories remain on the boot media, therefore read-only.

You can try some boot/cheat codes:

dsl 'write' makes the base system writable;
< http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....18;st=0 >

dsl 'toram' loads all the system files to ram.

maybe boot with cheatcode frugal or unionfs so:
dsl frugal
or
dsl unionfs


legalize cannabis, etc
