Slow booting

When I boot from my JetFlash (1GB) USB Mass Storage Device, it seems to load VERY slow.

All of it is nice and speedy, for the exception of the beginning, when it is working with the Ramdisk. It seems to 'hang' (however, it still is doing something, since when I pull my drive out DURING it it gives me errors, and eventually after 2-5 minutes it starts working).

It slows considerably down during " creating directories and symlinks on ramdisk"

Is there any tip anyone can give me?
