I have a USB powered fan with an LED light. I would really like to boot DSL from it.Suggestions? Posted by ke4nt1 on Oct. 21 2004,01:45
No problem, ..that's easy stuff.. I've done it a couple o' times' Start out with the following items: 1 DSL CD 2 phillips head screwdrivers 6 case screws One AC-VTVM or DMM w/probes Solder and soldering iron 1' piece of wire - 2 conductor 1 tube of Heat Sink Compound AND ~ a very large bottle of bourbon whiskey ~ First, sample the whiskey to check for quality. Remove the computer case covers. Check the whiskey again. To be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Repeat this step. Turn on the soldering iron and set it aside to get very hot. Strip the ends of the 1' piece of wire at both ends. Make sure the whiskey is still okay... try another cup. Turn on the computer. Use the DMM or AC-VTVM to find a larrge current source , If workin' with an ol' AT case, look behind the powr switcch. Holdnig the drewscriver by the handle, force the contaaacs aapart by wedgieing the tip inbetween the leads on the back of the swchith . Behwar of the smoke, it smelllz...... Open the damn usbB fan, and use the hot irn and wir to git the wires on' Sample the whiskey and check it again for quality.. damn good huh? what? Fill the usbB fan thingie with the heat greas.. keeps tha' bugs out.. Next, put tha' fan in the case...where...ohh.. Who cares??? Check the whiskey again. grab the wirzz and putem on the swiich.. holdon to tha case for maximum smmok.. yeow! Insert DSL cd into hole by whizkkey bottl and kick it with a boot.. DOn't bother wit the lil' screwz, sav em' for the morrow' Finish the blobble of whishy and flow to bed. 73 ke4nt Posted by green on Oct. 21 2004,02:18
