Lets make a list of usb devices that will boot, like the wireless netcard list.

Lexar JumpDrive - 64mb USB1.1 - Boots

AVB 64mb - USB1.1 - Will not boot

Apacer 128mb - USB 2.0 - Will not boot.

Does Compact Flash count? It's attached via USB.

USB boot successful using the following:

Aiptek Pocket DV II 1.3 Megapixel camera VM-1L
128MB Compact Flash

There is a similar thread out there in the forums but...

Sandisk Cruzer Micro 128MB - Boots on a Dell PC (Optiplex GX260 w/BIOS update, Optiplex GX270, Poweredge 400SC w/BIOS update).

I just picked up a Lexar 128 meg USB 1.1 and booted from it with no problems.

I installed via the right click menu: Install to USB drive.

worked like a charm!

Cigar Pro 128 meg, based on the OTi chipset does not boot on a ESC K7S5aPro board or anything else I have tried it on, even though it states that it will, and that includes DOS.

Sony Micro Vault USM128E USB 2.0 boots great, nice and fast.

Another one I tried is a Siebel/Microsoft 64mb USB 1.1 that worked with a boot disk, never tried to boot it directly from the device. (I was using this before I got a usb 2.0 device and before my computer had the ability to boot directly from usb, which updating the bios allowed me to do)

Motherboard is Asus A7N8X Deluxe bios rev. 1008.

I got it working on my Ultra 256mb MP3 player (ULT31576)

I can't figure out how to access the built-in SD/MMC reader - I'm guessing I have to mount it or something - I don't have much experience with USB and linux. Anyone got any hints?

BTW - this is my first try at DSL and already I love it!
