It is a Dell inspiron  1150 laptop with BIOS version A05

In the bios menu i have usb storage as the first boot device. Dell also gives you an option to change the boot order without entering in the bios but by pressing the F12 key during boot time and this will  only display your boot devices. And as you guessed it USB is not there . weird...

So , maybe i should update the bios to  A06 . Good luck to me doing it since i have no floppy drive on the lappy..... and the whole process of making a bootable cd then sticking the bios.exe file in there seems a bit challenging to me because of possible errors...

1) Dell has made improvements to their BIOS for most of their newer computers to better support USB booting.  You should upgrade your BIOS.
