Hi
I have a booting usbstick works really great.\
At home i have an older machine, which hasn't the boot option.
Is it possible to 'make' a boot floppy, which enables the usb ports on my machine, so i can finally boot from usb?
Tried bootusb-0.8 and  boot-0.8 floppies but that doesn't seem to work.
What am i doing wrong?
TIA!

The bootusb floppy should work fine with the standard "Install to pendrive" version of DSL.

It probably WON'T work with the "triple-boot" qemu version of DSL.

Maybe the boot floppy is having trouble recognizing your USB controller.  It is also possble that you have a very old USB 1.0 controller that does not work properly without a BIOS update for your motherboard.  There are some older Dell computers that fit this description.

Good Luck.

I have a Lexar 64MB USB Flash Drive that is detected at bootup and loads the DSL (0.8.4) prompt; however, when I type "DSL" it begins to load 'everything'.  It gets past the init. phase and eventually the screen goes blank and it stalls.  Any Suggestions?

Thanks for the reply.  I have tried "dsl vga=normal", I have also tried "Failsafe".  It stalls everytime.  I have also tried it on three other machines.  It has failed to load on every one of them.

Any suggestions?  I thought of downloading DSL again...

This is just a shot in the dark, but that sounds like a similar problem I had. You might want to try using "dsl xmodule=vesa"

Don't type DSL?

Just press enter.  Usually after the DSL you need to have an argument there like 'toram' etc.
