Ok first off, i know nothing about linux but im very keen to learn so please use lamans terms.

I have an external USB 2.0 HDD (maxtor 120gb onetouch)
And a usb pendrive. I also know that my mobo can boot from USB.

1) how do i put the .iso onto the USB pendrive?
2) is it possible to put DSL onto my external HDD?

For the USB stick, there is the < Frugal USB install >. You just unzip this onto your USB stick, and it should run. I haven't tried it myself due to a lack of USB pendrives. I'm not sure about using the external HDD to boot from, but there's no harm in trying, right?

If your external hard drive is a STANDARD MASS STORAGE DEVICE

(no drivers needed in Mac or Windows XP)

then it should appear somwhere like /dev/sda or maybe /dev/sdb in Linux.

From there you can do a normal HD install, provided that your computer BIOS supports USB hard drive booting.

If you are doing a frugal install it needs to be FAT or FAT32 to work with Windows and host the DSL knoppix\knoppix file

Same is true for a poorman's install, but you will need to download and create the "USB Boot Floppy" because poorman's does not install a boot loader.
