I have a puzzle here with a sandisk 256m. I have been working at this for a while and have not been able to find a solution. I have used the 5way install script to install dsl to this stick. Right after the install it will boot fine and will accept and save changes I have made to the system, do backups, etc. It will then boot fine one or two more times. After that I try to boot and get the message that it cannot and will be dropping into a limited shell. It will not boot again unless I do a reinstall then the process will repeat.

I have a lexar 1g stick that I have done the exact same install with, using the exact same files in the exact same folder. The lexar always works and has not lost the ability to boot. Since I have the 1g I can really get by without the 256m but I am the kind of guy that just can't seem to let this go without finding the reason why. Any ideas?

Hi spotslayer!

I have had some trouble with my usb drives (Sandisk Cruzer Mini 256 and Titanium 512) also. I figured out that the problem was that i didn't have to much space left on my usb-drive and therefore it gave me trouble. I don't know if this is so in your case but now I leave a pretty good space empty on both of my drives and they work flawlessly. I might mention that I use dsl-embedded on both of my drives. The smaller one to experiment with and the bigger to apply what I learn. Hope this post might help you!

Have fun,
meo

I am doing a box stock install using the 5way script. The sandisk is a 256m. The only thing I do is auto hide gkrellm and the bar at the bottom, change the desktop style. I can do the 5way and everything works until I shutdown the pc and try and reboot. That is when I get the script telling me that things are dropping into a limited shell. I do the exact same thing with the 1g and things are great. I don't think it is a space issue and approximatly half of the 256m remain. I tried this again today after downloading all new stuff.
