could the admins or any others PLEASE make a sticky of HOW to intall damnsmalllinux on a USB key, because i read stuff about floppy's 0_0 and i found a "install on usb" thing with winimage that just doesn't work, because i CAN'T click on write 0_0so PLEASE help me out here, with just a list what to download and how to install it on ur USB

It's in the Fluxbox menu -_-Not that hard to find.
Apps >> Tools >> Install to USB Pendrive

What Saidin didn't say is that you need to burn the CD ISO image to a CD, boot DSL from the CD and THEN you can access the Fluxbox menu by right-clicking on the desktop.

1. so i burn the iso i just downloaded (1.4) to a cd-r2. i put it in my pc and boot from it (do i need to install it??)
3. i selec install te USB.

Yes, that is correct..DSL is a liveCD , and never needs to be 'installed" ..
Once you reach the desktop, use the right click menu to goto
Apps >> Tools >> Install to USB Pendrive >>
and choose either USB-ZIP or USB-HDD
* depending on what type your computer's bios supports at boot

YAAY, that worked , NOT!!!i can boot the cd
i can click apps->tools and then the usbhdd install thingy
BUT THEN IT GIVES AN ERROR
no internet connection.....
how do i fix that??
and YES i do have internet in windows...

mmm, at allot of pc's you have to press a button at startup, to go to the boot menu (just as my dell here) i think its F12 for dell pc'sbut does anyone knows ow to get the internet set up??

I do set it to boot from the cd rom drive and I just get a message telling me to hit F1 to try again. I don't know if it matters but all I did was put the ISO on my PSP memory stick and then burnt it on my sisters laptop.

what is the minimum amout of space dsl can take up on a usb key including the desktop environment?

As with any other medium, 50mb is the size of a frugal install. Anything smaller would require remastering the file system, anything larger requires just adding more files to the disk.

Here's what I did to fix this:- Right-click on desktop and go to System->Net Setup->netcardconfig
- Select your network card
- Select "yes" to "Use DHCP broadcast", if you're using DHCP (most do nowadays)
- Done!
Hopefully you'll now have a functioning network.

I just burned the iso to the dick. On my sisters computer you can open up the blank cd and put files on it then just click "write to cd" and it will burn it. Do I need a special program to burn it?I use the latest version
