I can get DSL to boot from the PNY attache 512mb usb stick with the boot floppy only. I want to be able to do away with the floppy boot disk. Is there a way to do that? Has anyone been successful?
Should I write a new config.sys or autoexec.bat file?

I can use the HP usb utility program to format and place command.com and kernel.sys on it. Then that'll allow me to boot to a C prompt. So, I know the usb stick is bootable.

I have a dell optiplex gx260
bios A09 with winxp pro

I have booted several different kinds of pendrives with an Optiplex gx260 and the newer BIOS from dell.com (I don't remember the exact version number).

I use the USBHDD pendrive install choice from the DSL menu.

I have also made a loadlin combo FreeDOS/DSL bootable pendrive using the Dell usb boot utility program.

But the USBHDD method should work just fine.

Specifically, choose:

Apps -> Tools -> Install to USB Pendrive -> For USBHDD Pendrive.
