Hello All,
Upon reading this forum I have noticed that some people using Asus boards (Specifically any of the nforce ones for AMD's) have not had much luck booting a USB drive.

I am in the same boat, any suggestions would be welcome, and for posterity and future searches by people with the same hardware:

Anytime I try to boot to a DSL USB-HDD drive it just asks me to install the boot disk and press enter.

I have tried all different BIOS settings from USB-HDD, no other devices, to USB-ZIP, USB-CDROM etc...

Specs:
< Asus 87N8X-E Deluxe with v 1008 BIOS revision 2.
>
with the Nforce 2 Ultra chipset.

Needless to say it doesn't work with this motherboard. I even updated to the latest BIOS etc...

Oh, one thing I forgot to add.

The drive is a Lexar Media 256 Mb "JumDrive Secure" model: JDS256-40-520C

Yeah I know I look like a spammer, just trying to get the information out there.

Just found one other person who noticed this Asus mobo can't do it either "< my ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe motherboard cannot >"

So if you have one of these, don't believe all of the BIOS options for booting from USB, its not going to wokr.

LOL go figure.

Probably just a problem that they use the same generic BIOS (I have next to no expereince with BIOS issues, so I don't know if they do or not), but you can add the A8N SLi Deluxe to the list of non-working machines... If someone knows of a patch or something, that'd be great.

Not that this belongs here, but I don't really expect an answer anyway - When I try to book off the cd, I never get to xwindows, it goes through the loading process but grey screens (at least it looks grey on my machine) and hangs.  Any ideas?

Hi,
i use the same MB and the same Bios. I have no probs to boot from my USB-Stick. Have you enabled the usb-legacy support?
