How do I give an account Root?

Hi:

  Ive been meaning to get into Linux for quite sometime now, came across DSL an hour ago. Quick question, how do I log into an account after I create one and how do I give that account Root access? Appreciate any help

Got it after some help , for future reference edit sudoers with vi. If permission denied just do: sudo vi sudoers

Yes, I want a cookie
