So I dled embedded, unzipped and ran the .bat file, and was sitting there looking at a empty window frame! Every once in a while Qemu would update a couple rows of the screen, but all in all it was unusable.. Then I discovered (with a little playing around that DSL-embedded won't run at a XP desktop colour-depth of 32! Wow... Just thought I'd give the heads up to anyone with similar problems... just drop your desktop to 16 bit colour, and off you can go!

Runs fine on mine and it is set to 32

I think it depends on the specific computer system or video card.

It works find for me with XP and 32bit color depth.

FYI, it should be slightly faster when you run it at 16bit color depth.
