After you exit out of the gui, you're taken back to the linux command-line interface. I've been just using alt+ctrl to get mouse control and then closing the window via the top-right X button. Is this the correct way to close it, or is there a way from either the gui or the command-line interface to close everything to do with linux and return to windows?

If you have not made any changes while you had DSL embedded running, you could close by just clicking the X in the window. If you have made changes while DSL was running you should shut down by the following:

GUI - Right-click on desktop and select Power down - Shutdown

No GUI - type halt at the prompt

Hope this helps,

if you type exit you will go back to the GUI without saving any changes. To get backto the gui after working in the terminal type startx

EDIT: I gave a tip but it didn't work, so I removed it...
