What version of Windows are you using and how much RAM do you have? The more information you can give us, the better we can help you find a solution.

after trying 50 times the same thing - it works!

but there was a line: ACPI: Unable to locate RSDP, after that was everything ok
I don't know if it will cause some problems in the future.... i'm not going to close this windows today beacause I've got a lot fo things to do with Linux this night (exam :-/)

yeah right.... I was happy for 10 min... pfff
when I tried to open a terminal - crash! :(

oh, I saw also:
Total memory found: 125 MB  (??)

..an what version of DSL-emebedded are you running?
Posted by SeBo on June 01 2006,19:52
Linux 2.6.11 on i686
Host: dslbox 10.0.2.15

The version will be in the zip file title, like...

dsl2-2-embedded.zip

Posted by roberts on June 01 2006,20:26
dsl does not have a 2.6.11 kernel
Are you mixing dsl-windows.bat file with something that is not dsl?

small mistake ;)

>> dsl-2.4-embedded

Gee, you do think that it could possibly be that the Qemu you are recommendiing is v0.8.1 whereas dsl currently has 0.8.0 and the fact that 0.8.1 was just recently released. Instead of posting disparaging remarks

the binary that comes with dsl embedded has been probably been compiled on a very old 32-bit machine
FYI the qemu that comes with dsl-embedded is fetched from the very site that you referenced. You would think that the post should say...

The newest level of hardware need the newest level of Qemu and that a new version of has just been released on 05/22/06. Try Qemu v0.81

Well said Robert.

... but _that_ binary from _that_ japanese site _HAS_ been compiled on an old 32-bitmachine (pentium II).

Actually I recommend that he compile his/her own binary with MinGw from the cvs.

FYI,

I WANT the generic version of embedded to be QEMU compiled on an old machine.

Using CPU instructions that are only valid for the latest processors can limit your QEMU.EXE compatibility in a similar way as to this situation.

You are quoting a post of mine from another site, you put it into the wrong contest and start a flame against me. That's rude and technically questionable, too!

Somebody posted that he had a problem with a dual core 64-bit. I replied that he'd try the new binary _or_ compile his own binary. That's it.

What has it got to do with the Dsl project, I don't know!

Why don't you reply on the Qemu forum and see if others agree with you, that'd be fair!
