When installing on a compaq Armada E500, 192 Mb, probably 500 Mhz,

With Windows 2000 installed, QEMU starts up, and during sartup the letters are barely readable, like rainbowlike.

Once the windows manager starts up, it is crammed, unreadable in a third of the qemu window. the rest of the window is empty.

How to make him recognise the screen? The display adaptor might be a ATI-rage mopility-p agp, the video adaptor is shown as legacy.

Thanks.

I would like to test first whether my DWL 122 works in embedded, before installeing at home dsl on my dell 266 Mhz, working more or less fine with windows 2000 (400 Mb memory), but wiffe complaining about speed. Will have to work with firefox and thunderbird, the two programs she uses. Looking for an alternative for slow openoffice (writely?)

If your testing for install you should grab the live cd. qemu is very missleading as it runs really slow. you can proably run toram with the amount of ram you have so you can use DSL at it's best.

I have al lot of time, but only an old laptop and no cd burner.  So slowness - within limits - is not really a problem. Moreover, clicking on the colors, it seems snappy.

I woul dlike to make it work, and it seems to me it is only a setting.

This question has been answered before. Try searching  the embedded forum. If I recall, it is the Windows resolution that needs to be set at a lower setting.

Specifically,

Windows Display Settings = 16 Bit Color Depth
