I downloaded the "embedded-zip" version and just extracted it to the pen drive and set the bios to boot from the usb device and it worked fine. There was one more thing, I downloaded a prgram called syslinux.exe and extracted it to a directory and "start/run/cmd" then went to that directory where the program was extracted to and typed "syslinux.exe E:"  (E: being the pen drive letter) The order was:
format the pen
extract the embedded zip file of dsl to the pen drive
extract syslinux.exe to a directory
run it to the drive pen directory
set bios to boot from pen
reboot

then all worked fine.
