We are developing an epos app and would like to use linux for the tills.
I am hoping to use a CF to IDE for the main OS then probably a USB key for the temp data. The temp data would be the transactions database (sqlite) if the till if offline.

The package that we develop for the tills will be a web based system in PHP using a sqlite database. So they will have to run a basic web server and have an X windows system running with web browser.

They will be connected to the Internet most of the time for live transactions but will sometimes have to operate offline, hence the USB drive.

Can DSL be used installed with extra packages (web server etc) on to a CF with IDE adapter, then use a USB stick for temp data?

Any help and advice helpful.

Regards Pete.

From my understanding, yes DSL can.

By default DSL contains the monkey web server, but of course you could always install another one.
