If a DSL fits on a 50MB CD it should fit also on a 64MB CF.
Has anybody a HowTo?

The easiest way is to get an IDE adapter, look here < http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/store/embedded_storage >
Then use the frugal_instal.sh script. From the main menu Apps->Tools->Frugal Install

Thank you, it works.

To hijack/continue this kind of topic...

I'd like to contribute a bit of cash to DSL, and buy a CF-IDE adapter, however need some more info on them.

I'd like to buy an adapter now to work on a standard (if somewhat old) PC motherboard, but without having to buy another one I'd like it to work on a Mini-ITX motherboard that I'm working up to getting eventually.

Possible?

Should be no problem. I have used them inter-changeably between old motherboards and mini-itx systems. Just use a very short ide ribbon cable in the tight spaced mini-itx system. I have also user the notebook style ide-adapter and have replaced broken down notebooks this way. Because, the frugal install runs compressed, it will go through the hardware autodetection when you boot up just like the cdrom version. So it is very easy to move it from machine to machine

OK, so of the four CF-IDE adapters listed in John's shop, which will equally run on PC and mini-ITX ?? Gathering not the first one?

I just wondered, if there are different ones listed for mini-ITX as to PC, what the differences are?

Heya John,

I'll swap you a few characters of wisdom (question above) for some money for a CF-IDE adapter.

I have used the second one listed. It has the standard hard drive configuration. Use a simple IDE hard drive cable and its power connector. Works in both normal pc and mini-itx. Anything has supports a standard hard drive. The third one listed I have used as a laptop harddrive replacement. Makes the battery last longer too! The fourth one needs a floppy style power connector and a standard hard drive ide cable. Never tried it.
