Hello DSL Fans!

I am trying to run the embedded version in Windows 95
but it says missing the archive MSVCRT.DLL, so it doesnt run.
How can i fix this? (I used searching for the file and there are 2 files that look similar in name, MSVCRT20 and MSVCRT40, is there a way to change the option so it calls one of this archives instead of the original, if so, which file calls the applications in order for me to edit the file name)

Thanks in advance,

Ernst

The 20 and 40 files are newer versions of the same library.  I'm guessing that some program you installed replaced MSVCRT.DLL with 20 or 40.  You can rename a newer file and hope it will work (although it may break other programs), or you can download MSVCRT.DLL or see if it's on your win95 CD (it will probably be named something like MSVCRT.DL_ on the CD).

Thanks mikshaw
I copied several DLL's that the application needed (DHCPCSVC,IPCFGDLL,IPHLPAPI,WS2_32 and WS2HELP)
but in the end QEMU reported a Stack Overflow :( so i wasnt able to run DSL embedded in Win95.
I also tried running DSL booting from a floppy and then from CDROM, but the desktop doesnt even show the icons, just a gray area with the mouse cursor and some info about the CPU usage....any alternatives? If i press the left button of the mouse it brings some options, but doesnt run the applications. Thought DSL would run in a 486DX with 28MB RAM since i saw it on the forums....
This embedded version has worked in Win98 and Xp but not in Win95....

Thanks for the help mikshaw ....

On a 486 with 28mb you'll most likely get poor performance with anything less than textmode...you could use it without any dock apps or background, and reduce the color depth and resolution, to get better performance.

It would help to know what your machine is capable of...if it's low on ram and cpu power then running DSL inside Windows is probably a bad idea.  The minimum specs apply to running DSL as the one and only OS...running it inside another OS would tend to greatly increase the requirements.

In my personal opinion, I would not run "DSL Embedded" from inside MSWindows unless the MSWindows computer was at least a 1GHz processor.
