Hi,

I'm trying to make the hard-disk image bigger so that I can install evolution email, and store emails.

I tried < this >, but I got errors when mounting. Also, the 60MB image didn't contain the files the instructions said it would, and also, this didn't create any files on the real windows hard-disk.

Do you have any ideas about what I can do to make the HDD bigger?

Thanks,
   Martin

Are you running under Windows XP with QEMU?  If so, you can't use DD, you need to get qemu-image.

yep, that's right

How do I go about qemu-image?

Thanks,

Here is a < link > to a site that has a zip of qemu.  You can find the qemu-image in the zip.  Documentation on use of qemu-image is found < here >

Thanks, I managed to make the image. I've added the image to the qemu directory in dsl-embedded directory. I also managed to add the image to dsl-windows.bat file, so that the dsl recognised it as hdc.

I still have a problem though - I got the impression from the instructions on the dsl site (linked to earlier) that you are meant to copy everything from hdb onto this, but according to the ls command, /mnt/hdb is empty. what am I doing wrong?

I want to make the disks big enough that I can install evolution email, and keep lots of emails here, which I thought I'd achieved, but how do I get the space in the "right place" so I can use apt-get?

Thanks,

you also need to add to the "append" option stuff to say that opt=hdc dsl=hdc, assuming you are using hdc as the place you want the stuff to persist.
