I was surprised at how well this ran.. nice..
Much better than I remember some time back when I perused it.
I used XFree and NVidia - YMMV
Posted by ke4nt1 on Jan. 17 2005,20:10TORCS is now posted in the "testing" area of the repository..

Enjoy and feedback..
Posted by StrayDog on Jan. 20 2005,01:29if it requires xfree you need to put that in the info file so people know
Posted by ke4nt1 on Jan. 20 2005,04:42Done..
I thought that the comment about it being an openGL game
would make it a dead giveaway for requiring XFree .. my bad..
Posted by RoGuE_StreaK on Jan. 27 2005,05:49Any sound on this one? I couldn't get any, and couldn't see any options regarding sound.
Posted by ke4nt1 on Jan. 27 2005,06:18Hmm.. the sound works on mine..
Doing donuts and 180's drives the dogs crazy!
Posted by wirebook(at_school) on Feb. 15 2005,22:22ke4nt1, why does your desktop have two CPU monitors? And if it's just because.... well.... just because, then why are they different? I can't wait to try and get this game to work at home! I may log onto the IRC channel to get some help with configuring XFree86, but since I already found a XFree86 from somebody running RedHat, or maybe SUSE.... it should only need a couple guides from some of you pros

Posted by ke4nt1 on Feb. 15 2005,22:53yep..
It's a dual P3 1077MHz Abit VP6 mobo.
1.5GB's ram - 200+GB's HD space.
Old and slow, but runs DSL nicely.
Posted by RoGuE_StreaK on May 26 2005,05:12Just tried Torcs again, again got no sound, this time I see a message in the xterm (didn't seem to be a mydsl menu entry for this one) something along the lines of "requires an 8-bit compatable sound card" - any thoughts? I'm using onboard audio on an nForce2 motherboard.
Oh, and a tip to those trying to figure it out, apparently you can change the driver's view by hitting F2 (I couldn't find that info anywhere in the game...)

Old and slow!!!!
I would kill for a rig like that...any dual processor system is sooooo much more responsive as even if the program running isnt SMP capable the loadbalancing featere of having two processors is invaluable!
[redneck_analogy]How much work would you be able to do if there were two of you!?[/redneck_analogy]
