I would recommend that since we are using the 2.4.x kernels in DSL, the modules from pcmcia-cs (< PCMCIA-CS website >) should be included.

I have an older laptop that uses a PCMCIA bridge that is not supported by the kernel module, but would be supported by the seperate modules built by this project.  It shouldn't increase the binary too much, yet would increase the compatibility of DSL on such hardware.

On a side note, I successfully compiled these modules and now my PCMCIA works fine.

Would this make a good MyDSL extension?

I see MyDSL extensions as more of add-ons.  Since there is really no reason to have the current PCMCIA modules over the more advanced ones in the pcmcia-cs package (since we are using kernel 2.4), and since, in effect, the current modules are broken for some PCMCIA bridge sets, I would think it would be better to fix the broken base modules with the functional updated ones.

Mind you, this was only a problem with the 2.4.x chipsets - 2.6 has this resolved since the code was updated.  But in 2.4 many PCMCIA modules are not fully functional.
