live cdrwForum: DSL Ideas and Suggestions Topic: live cdrw started by: bravo-uniform-golf Posted by bravo-uniform-golf on Mar. 19 2006,08:35
i am currently running dsl on a rw cd. i don't want to repartion my hard drive because it is almost full and i would hate to lose data or have to reinstall window$ again. when i have to wipe my system again(surely to be soon) i will install on the hd with its own dedicated partion. it would be nice to be able to run off the cdrw and save changes and files to the cdrw. i have heard of other distros to something like this. i am new to linux and like dsl very much. thank you.

Puppy Linux supports this with multisession CD burning.

This had been brought up before.multisession CD burning is not very nomadic. Much better to use a device that is. Posted by yeti on April 17 2006,19:51
roberts I'm not nomadic. I, too, thought a live cdrw might be a good idea. I only have the cdrw, no plain cd. I thought this idea might be preferable to a multi-stage process of making an iso, etc. I do know that there's a problem when I remove the cd and try to fire up k3b. It seems incongruous to me that I have to go back to fc5 to iterate my dsl configuration. Please give us a little more explanation than the nomadic taunt. Respectfully, and in much appreciation of dsl, yeti |
