To John or Roberts - I was reading recently that dev support for torsmo has gone away... Will torsmo be replaced? If so is conky a good size to use?

Just curious.

I'm going to 'bump' this one - linux.com has just posted < a brief feature on Conky >, and also claimed that Torsmo isn't being maintained any more - is this true?

Conky also looks a bit more configurable than Torsmo, but I can't say if that's true or not - it can certainly run custom scripts, though.

Any chance of replacing Torsmo with Conky, or is the latter too 'bulky' for DSL?

Just comparing the sizes of the two binaries i have, torsmo is 39k and conky is 96k, both stripped.

Torsmo in DSL is not stripped, however, and its size is equal to the stripped conky.

I have not seen any noticeable difference in performance, but that statement is not based on any reasonable amount of testing.

You can try conky.uci if you want to see for yourself.

Afaik, conky is an updated and maintained fork of torsmo...

That's my understanding - from the screenshots page, it looks as if the user can control conky's colours and appearance a bit more finely than with torsmo, as well as add extra scripts to the display.

It looks like conky was available as a UCI or UNC package, but isn't there any more - am I looking in the right place?

Obviously I wasn't - I just found it under the UCI section in MyDSL (duh...) :)
